The Church In
The World Today Window
The contemporary symbols that are seen in this last window of the series point to the
various ways in which God's presence among us continues to reveal the Father, Son and Holy
Spirit today.
The symbols of the Holy Year 1975, the year this church was dedicated, are the Dove and
the Olive Branch. The gold and silver keys represent the Universal Church of Heaven and
Earth. With a background of stars and stripes, St. Elizabeth Seton, first native-born
United States saint, commemorates the Bicentennial of our nation. The Phoenix Bird,
ancient symbol of the Resurrection, represents our Diocese; the Roses remind us of St.
Theresa's words: "I will shower roses from Heaven." The Chalice and Host
symbolize the uniting of Heaven and earth in faith. |
