The Massively Massive LIFE
Night
9/24/00

This night showed the importance of finding Jesus in the Real Presence World.
We can pinpoint four ways that Jesus is present in the Mass:
1. Word: Jesus is present in the Scriptures:
- 2 Timothy 3:16: All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for
refutation, for correction and for training in righteousness.
2. Priest: The priest acts in personae Christi,
standing in the presence of Christ the High Priest.
3. Community: The Mass is a communal gathering of
Gods family, designed to help us grow in holiness.
- 1 Peter 2:9: You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people of his
own, so that you may announce the praises of him who called you out of darkness and into
his wonderful light.
- Acts 2:42: They devoted themselves to the teaching of the apostles teaching and to
the communal life, to the breaking of bread and to the prayers.
4. Real Presence in the Eucharist: Jesus is truly present
in His Body and Blood.
- 1 Corinthians 11:23-26: For I received from the Lord what I also
handed on to you, that the Lord Jesus, on the night he was handed over, took bread, and,
after he had given thanks, broke it and said, "This is my body that is for you. Do
this in remembrance of me." In the same way also the cup, after supper, saying,
"This is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in
remembrance of me." For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you
proclaim the death of the Lord until he comes."
- John 6:53: Jesus said to them, "Amen, amen, I say to you,
unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life
within you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise
him on the last day."
- To sum up: The Mass may not always have excitement and emotion,
but the way to get over boredom is to find Jesus in the Mass. Once we do so, well
find real meaning in Mass.
