Girl's Day Out
6/9/01
This was a female fiesta of faith and fun! It
started bright and early Saturday morning with Mass at St. Theresa. Afterwards, we headed
down the road to Cocoas for breakfast. After some pretty good food and some really
great conversations, we all headed over to Margaret Ss house. First, we hung out in
her room as we waited for those who were on their way. Then, it was time for a swim! We
all got changed into our suits and loaded up on sun block. Megan was one of the first ones
in, entering the pool by way of cannon ball. The rest of us soon followed. We splashed
around and had diving contests. Then it was time to take a break. While laying out in the
sun, we dined on Doritos and Salt & Vinegar chips and had plenty of soda to drink.
Then it was time to get back in the water. Fita, Erin, and Margaret decided to come up
with a dance routine to NSYNCs "Dirty Pop," so they worked on that
while the rest of us were in the water. Around 2:00, we got out, dried off, and got ready
to go out for lunch. Most of us decided on Panda Express, except Melanie, who got a
sandwich from Quiznos next door.
After lunch, we went to St. Theresa for Adoration
and the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Then it was back to Margarets house, where we
all went swimming again. This time we spilt into two teams and had relays back and
forth across the pool. When it started getting kind of late, we went inside. Many of
the girls had brought their guitars with them, so while they were playing, another group
started a game of Scattegories. Eventually, the girls who were playing guitars joined the
group playing Scattegories. We played until the pizza was delivered. While we were chowing
down on the pizza, Margarets mom made brownies for
us all. Christi licked the spatula and the bowl
yum! After dinner, Fita, Erin, and
Margaret performed their dance for us. It was fabulous.
Later that night, we had a great rap session. We
started off with some songs led by Fita and Melanie on guitar; it was amazing, we all
sounded awesome. We talked about a bunch of stuff that cant be repeated, and despite
what many people assumed, we didnt need a single box of Kleenex! After the rap
session, we stayed up pretty late playing games and watching movies. We all fell asleep at
different times, but all got up around 9:00. Then it was off to our own homes where most
of us slept for another three or four hours. We were definitely exhausted by all the fun
we had the day before!
A special thanks to the Schrader's for offering up their home to the girls!
