Eating dinner at Subway just across the Canadian border
Travel Log
Today we met at St. Theresa's at 8:30am. We then took the Great Big
Yellow St. Theresa School Bus to the airport where we checked in. At the security check
point Brian and Becky were searched while Andy and Megans bags were searched. Matt
Lowry put scissors in Andy's camera bag so that he would get stopped (supposedly, eh?). We
boarded our Continental flight around 11am - we left on time. After three and a half-hours
our flight landed in Clevland, where we rushed to catch our next flight to Buffalo. We all
made it (phew)! Becky was searched again. The plane was very small and we took up nearly
half of it. Ryan Howe had to duck to get on the plane (see picture). It was a very short
flight only about an hour. Before we knew it we were in Buffalo where we met up
with Mary Ellen who had been waiting for us for nearly four hours! Then we got our bags
and met our Tour Guide, Magdelana. We boarded our bus where we met up with two groups from
California, also on their way to participate in World Youth Day. After riding on the bus
for about thirty minutes we arrived at the Canadian border. We spent about five minutes at
Customs while they checked our passports and identification. After being cleared to cross
the border. We drove for a little while and then stopped for food. After everyone had
eaten, we boarded the bus and headed for the hotel. It was a long day, but we all arrived
safely.
Diary from Andy Freeze
Hello Everyone in AZ, Today was our travel day. We started around
8:30 this morning by gathering at St. Theresa and traveled all day until 11 pm Canadian
time (same as EST). It was a long day. We all had fun on the planes and in the
airports. There were scissors in the camera bag I was carrying but I didn't know.
They pulled me aside and said that they thought there were scissors in my bag.
I said I didn't think so, but they found some. I couldn't say that it wasn't
my bag because it was the digital camera for the trip. After they took the scissors,
we headed to the plane. We had a little food on the plane but not much. When
we landing in Clevland we rushed to the next flight which had already began boarding when
we arrived. It was a very small plane with only 50 or so seats. We took up a
lot of them and it was a short flight. We landed boarded the plane and went to
Canada. We crossed the boarder much faster than I expected and then went to dinner.
We ate at Subway but paid with American money. I thought they didn't give me
enough change, but Rob alerted me that they have 1 dollar Canadian coins. We then
went to the hotel and began the night. We have a wake up call at 6:45 and is
supposed to be the earliest but we are still excited. Talk to you lata Andy
