Travel log
We left Phoenix at 1pm and got to Los Angeles in about an hour. After an hour and
a half layover, we headed off direct to Los Angeles. After eleven hours of sitting
in cramped seats (although it was a 777, the best we could hope for ) and watching the
same movies we arrived. We met our tour guide, Emannuele (how fitting, that is our
World Youth Day theme song name), and are now heading to the hotel to check in our
luggage. From there we'll be heading off to have Mass with the St. Francis group.
Diary entry from Matt Henry
Matt's Diary: Hey everybody it's Matt. So far we've only been on the plane
ride and are headed to hotel. The plane ride went well. Most of the
people slept for most of the ride, but Megan Madigan and I were too excited to sleep.
The highlight of my trip so far is watching Erin Brockovich three times on the way
over. Some good news for you folks at home, nobody got pickpocketed in the airport.
We could tell the pickpocketers from the normal French citizens because they were
dressed very nicely to give the people the impression that they were business men.
So that's what we've been doing on our first day here in Paris. I am surprised at
how similar the weather and nature are to the east coast. There are lots of trees
and greenery. The temperature is 75 degrees C(just kidding Farenheit) and it is
quite humid. I am very excited about going to Lisieux and seeing the home of Saint
Theresa in a few days. That is all that is going on here in Paris. Au revoi, Matt
