(Joe Sotelo flying over St. Peter's Square)
Diary entry from Kate Goodman
Just wanted to give a shout-out to the fam and crew back home. Everything is
going great. Today we visited the Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter's.
It was all so beautiful! As we travel around Rome, it is difficult to imagine
that our country has historical sites that are 200 years old, and here there are statues
and monuments more than 2000 years old. Tomorrow we're supposed to see the catacombs
-- I can't wait! Mom, I wish you could see this place -- the shopping is
outstanding. Dad, it's not a out of a western but I have a feeling you'd like
it, too. Matt, miss you a ton (they even have Pokemon over here :)). Don't
worry and thanks for the prayers -- we're praying for you, too. Can't wait to see
you. God Bless!

Travel log
Today we woke a little earlier and got to the Vatican Museum at 8am or so. The
Museum hadn't opened yet and there was already a big line. Inside the Museum we saw
a lot of statues, tapestries, and paintings that the Vatican owned. The most famous
and prestigious part was the Sistene Chapel and Michaelangelo's paintings on the ceiling.
After seeing it in so many pictures it was pretty neat to see it in person.
From leaving the Museum, we hopped into a line to walk through St. Peter's. Inside
we were able to see the Pieta (Michaelangelo's sculpture of Mary holding Jesus). The
Church was pretty impressive. We didn't go downstairs because it was so crowded, but
we heard that they have a whole bunch of chapels down below with Masses starting all the
time in all different languages. After leaving St. Peter's, we had free time for the
rest of the afternoon. We met again around dinner time and went to eat dinner. After
dinner we all just went back to the hotel and hung out.
